The Kingdom if Mounre, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.

It is said that Ulsterman and writer CS Lewis loved the Mourne Mountains because  they made him feel that 'at any moment a giant might raise his head over the next ridge.'  CS Lewis was born in Co Down and grew up in Belfast!

Not exceptional in terms of size, the highest peak being Slieve Donard at 850m, the more than 20 mountains average a height of only 600m, but the still picturesque and distinctive scenery with its exposed wilderness mountain landscape and numerous dry stone walls, justifying its designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
